What to do when you have TOO much space? Build what you really want and leave the rest alone.  That was the enviable situation the owner and CEO of NuRelm – a web content management company – had on its hands with a 15,000 Sq. Ft. building in Uniontown, Pa. The owner needed only about 1,000 Sq. Ft. for his business on the 2nd floor and roughly 2,500 Sq. Ft. on the 3rd – where he planned to live alone.  There was a bigger concern for heating/cooling the space and mitigating the hollowness of sound than most anything else.  inter*ARCHITECTURE prepared a strategy for using available space, designed specific areas and provided instructions and demonstrations for constructing the work, as the owner planned to perform the construction primarily himself. It was a modified design/build arrangement where inter*ARCHITECTURE provided both design and partial construction services.  The owner eventually built-out an additional 2.500 Sq. Ft. of livable area on the 3rd floor, primarily with large sheet products and similar construction detail strategy utilized throughout.  Birch and Oak plywood was used extensively with steel and aluminum trimmed accent elements.
