Private Residence
Pagosa Springs, CO

This sprawling house, surrounded by the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado was the first complete construction project for Freddie Croce.  Designed, financed and constructed almost entirely by Freddie and his father incorporated many energy conserving products and systems.  The house steps along with the hill-top upon which it sits and the insulated foundation walls nestle this 2,550 sq. ft home among the pines and oak.  Employing archetypal passive strategies for siting, daylighting, massing and ventilation along with a hydro radiant heating system, this home uses 1/3 the energy of its neighbors and yet preserves views and opens to nature.
